Insert Headers and Footers

Headers and footers are areas at the top and bottom of the page where you can add additional text or graphics. Placing important information in the header or footer, such as page number, creation date, document title, or author's name, is a clever way to ensure that this information is always conveniently located and easy to access irrespective of how much the document is edited.

In the Header&Footer section of the Insert tab, select HeaderFooter to open the Header&Footer tab, shown as follows:

If you need to switch quickly between the header and the footer, click Switch Between Header and Footer in the Navigation section.

If you want to finish editing the header and footer, select Close in the Navigation section.
